Peach State Highlights 2008
Spring came early to Atlanta as hundreds of dance enthusiasts gathered on March 6-9, 2008, at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia in Atlanta Georgia for the eighteenth annual Peach State Country Western Dance Festival. Keeping with tradition, the weekend was filled with fantastic dance competition, lots of dance workshops, and great fun.
The weekend started off on Thursday night with the Two Steps West reunion dance. Memories drifted back to years gone by when two-steppers flowed like a river around the dance floor of Two Steps West, a popular Atlanta dance hall in the 1990’s. Old friends gathered to reminisce, and newcomers were warmly welcomed, as everyone shared the joy of country western dancing.

Workshops by some of the dance world’s top instructors started Friday morning and continued all weekend long. At times, dancers could pick from four different workshops running simultaneously. There were over 60 hours of workshops during the weekend, with over 25 hours of free workshops! Country Western, Swing, Line Dance, Latin – there was something for everyone!

The dance competition was hot! Pro-Am competitors filled the floor Friday night and Saturday. From newcomers to advanced, the competitors basked in the spotlight, sharing their best moves with the appreciative Peach State audience. Couples competitors took the floor Saturday afternoon and Sunday, putting on a great show. The competition highlight of the weekend was the Masters Competition. The weekend also included great Jack-and-Jill competition and Pro-Am Swing and Hustle.

The Saturday night show, as always, was fantastic. The fast-flowing program of champion dancers, star performers, and frolicking fun, began with the Masters competitions. The entertainment then continued with solo performances by Robert and Nicola Royston, Albert and Antoinette Tailleir, Monty and Kristen Geil Ham, Guyton Mundy and friends, Ben and Lisa, Rex and Rachel Jones, Toby and Harmony Munroe, Barry and Dari Ann Amato, and Kyle Redd and Sarah Vann Drake. Surprise guest American Idol star Diana Degarmo put on an entertaining show, inviting the audience to dance alsong. The festivities concluded with the uproariously funny Jack-and-Jack.

The Peach State event directors, Bill Robinson and Linda Hembree, and the Peach State event core committee invite you to join us for the nineteenth annual Peach State Country Western Dance Festival on:
